the air is almost crisp. this is the black month of october, my least favorite month of the year. there are several reasons for that--- it usually signifies the futility of the dodgers (but not this year!), it's the month by best friend died (RIP, KC, you freaking homer. miss you, bitch!), and it's typically the first hint of oncoming winter. also, growing up in TN, it was the first month where we could get ice, and i hate ice.
i'm in better spirits for this month. i have some great friends. i have a perfect daughter. i've weathered my bad relationship choices, and i've healed the wound (for the most part) from the last one in particular.
i see some problems ahead that i need to address, but with a little bit of luck, i will take care of them. if i can do that, things should steadily move along. i'm not looking for instant gratification or an instant solution anymore--- these things are slow progress, just as my current state is the result of a methodical seven year downturn. i didn't reach here overnight, so i can't fix things overnight either.
so on that note, all i'll say is that this october is the month for apocalyptic baseball. god/vishnu/whatever help all y'all if they make the world series. you don't even want to know what's coming if they actually win it. turn your phones off.
