well, hell

two things. first, i messed up on the date of john lennon's death. mea culpa.

second, i had the most vivid dream of my life last night. before you get too excited, it wasn't that kind of dream. it was about picasa.

all things considered, i shouldn't complain that much because she hasn't shown up in my dreams that much over the past several months. well, she made up for it last night.

i just randomly ran into her, and it was her. the face, the eyes, the aura, everything her-- it was like she was literally standing in front of me, and even now, hours later, it's like she's standing right behind me. to be honest, i'm a little creeped out by it because i half expect to turn around and see her.

next moment we are sitting in her vehicle, pulled off to a grassy area near a building and covering a sidewalk (it's daytime, for those keeping score.) a man walks up and looks in, and i can tell he's not overly thrilled that we're parked there. he doesn't say anything, and we don't say anything. we leave. it seems like i'm on my lunch break from work.)

flash to the next moment. we are walking up a flight of stairs. she jokes with me about not speaking to her for the past seven months (some joke), and before i could fire off the first 22,000 responses i had to that statement, she turns around and just looks at me and smiles with that smile she had. kill me. she's very much in her element, and she's very much the person i fell completely in love with.

flash to the next moment. we are in a huge church, surrounded by thousands of people. it seems that we are in a charismatic-type church, albeit on the light side. (point of reference, she used to attend such a church, unwillingly, but stopped a few months before we got together.) she knew a lot of the people there, and it seemed that some of the people were attending a service in another wing of the building, but others were just milling around. it didn't seem to me that she attended this church so much as she knew some of the people who did.

flash to the next moment. she is holding a baby (clearly not hers, and before you speculate, i know she was not pregnant IRL b/c she's been seen lately by people who work here, and if she happened to be pregnant, it would be gossip-worthy.) we walk around for a bit on the grounds while she holds the baby, and we talk. damn if i know what we were talking about. at this point, i have the feeling that i need to be getting back to work.

flash to the next moment. we are in a small store, maybe the church bookstore or something, but this part of the dream is very fuzzy, and i can't remember much of anything about it.

i woke up, and for about 45 seconds, it seemed to me that those events actually happened. then, of course, i realized it didn't happen.

i don't really know what is going through my head at the moment. i'm a little thrown off- both by the dream hangover effect i usually have post-dream, and also by how vividly i saw her and just being around her again. i'm sure it will last throughout today.

so, those of you with the gift (and i know at least two of you who read this have such a gift), is there anything i need to be on the lookout for? if she's planning on popping up, i'd like a bit of forewarning, if possible.

i think it's your subconcious regurgitating all the "what could've been's" by flashing through them one at a time, but in a halfway removed way. like a date type scenario, a wedding type scenario, a family type scenario, but all in a detached framework that aren't at all the way you would have done it - like it's there, but it's all wrong. because IRL it's played out in a detached way that isn't the way you would have had it.

Sometimes it really does mean something, other times it does not, and unfortunately, the only way to tell is to see what happens next.

I'd say that it's your subconscious, but something about the details makes me think there's other input there. Something about the church bookstore.

On the other hand, what do I know -- look at my life....

I'd say watch the mail or any literary communications --maybe not limited to stamp and envelope mail, but delivery of some sort. I have no idea where that's coming from, but it's probably just common sense -- time of year, holiday greetings, etc.

Really, though, for your sake, I hope it is just a dream. And remember, FWIW, sometimes a dream is just a dream. Most times it's totally an "inside job", like what Melissa said.
