or so they say. hurricane gustav (well, it's a tropical storm at the moment) is out there. of the 2,312 projections, most have gustav visiting new orleans and having a beer or two or twelve. for those of you who don't know louisiana geography (and why would you), i live about 60 miles northwest of new orleans. baton rouge was not devasted by katrina, but i've been hearing the whispers around town about this storm. i've lived here almost 13 years, and i've not felt this sense of quiet desperation among the townies for a storm that's still 3 days away. being a transplant, i'm not sure if they have a sixth sense that i wouldn't have or if they are in katrinashock. if the storm hits new orleans, we'll have some flooding, some damage, a bit of chaos, but i doubt we will be demolished like nola was. i've said it before, and i'll say it again--- i'll take a hurricane over a tornado any day because you can see and prepare for a hurricane.
yes, i have a plan in case all hell breaks loose. i can always go back to TN (just kill me, but that's another story for another day), so there's no chance you'll see me on CNN camped out on my roof. you might see footage of me being arrested in a TN bar with my cousins after a night of badly singing hank jr. karaoke, but i'm getting off topic.
there really is no purpose to this post other than the weird vibe everyone is putting out. i still think it's too early to panic, but what the hell do i know?
